You can start the process of counselling by emailing me at natalie@brainfitcounselling.com. Once I get in touch with you we will set up a parent intake meeting. Together we will discuss what brings you to see me. I will also send you an intake questionnaire for you to complete before our initial meeting, a confidentiality form to be printed and signed, and more detailed information about coming to your first visit.
Your child or teen can expect a very calm and relaxed environment. The goal of brain fit counselling is to learn how our brain barometers work, how it feels to be in the "green zone", and how to move into this zone when we need to. Through art, play, and metaphor they will experience and feel the different zones and co-regulation which will help them build the skills they will need to self-regulate and be more rescilient in difficult or challenging situations.
I personally recommend that we have one parent intake session followed by five or six consecutive one on one sessions with your child. Having regular and continous sessions will help me builid a therapeutic alliance with your child or teen and help build and strengthen new habits and neuropathways in their growing brains. If you would like to continue counselling after this time we can discuess your options for longer or more ongoing support.
Some medical plans will cover the cost of counselling with me. My title is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) so you may first want to look into what your extended medical plan covers before booking with me.
My RCC # is 17277.
I prefer to do counselling sessions in person but I do understand that due to many circumstances, including Covid 19 concerns, that online may work better for you and your family. If this is the case and you would prefer your sessions online we can arrange for this option.
