I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) trained in EMDR and certified NSST therapist. I have loved my time working with children and families as a counsellor for more than 15 years. I strongly believe that children, youth and adults will thrive when they feel safe, connected, and loved. Dysregulation in our brains and bodies happens all the time but sometimes our emotional responses can impact our overall happiness, ability to control our feelings and behaviors, and our relationships with others. Having the awareness of what dysregulation is, how this feels in our bodies, and having some tools to help ourselves and others when this happens is very empowering,
Over the years I have developed my own tools that blends the practices of attunement, neuroscience, metaphors with sand tray and art therapy techniques, mindfulness, informed IFS, and embodiment awareness. The goal of my work with children, teens and families is to help them integrate their left brains with their right brains and to feel the power of regulating and connecting the mind and body, I will also work with and support families along the way so that when dysregulation is felt in the family, everyone will have the tools and strategies necessary to co-regulate and build new habits and new neuropathways together.
Watch this video together with your children or teens. By watching this together you will build important attachments by listening and connecting with each other. Being more aware of your brain barometers, what affects them, and how you can influence each others brain barometers will help everyone spend more time in the "green zone".
